Press Conference Kicks Off #DutchWorldSBK

Wednesday, 6 April 2016 16:39 GMT

Next round of WorldSBK heads to the legendary TT Circuit Assen

105 journalists, photographers, cameramen and stakeholders joined representatives of the City of Assen, Province of Drenthe and TT Circuit Assen for a Press Conference held ahead of the upcoming WorldSBK weekend in the Netherlands.

Home riders including wildcards were all present at the event as the world’s premier production motorcycle racing Championship prepares to return to the scene of some incredible races in 2015. Honda’s Michael van der Mark will be heading up the home dash for glory after having achieved a double podium at the track in 2015 when still a rookie. Happy with his competitive Ten Kate Honda, the 2014 WorldSSP Champion reported his goal for 2016 was to return to the rostrum once again. His compatriots are similarly aiming for good results at home, with all aiming for the top 15 to score points.

“Fans on Pole Position” was the theme of the Press Conference, with TT Circuit Assen President Arjan Bos, TT Managing Director Peter Oosterbaan and Dorna World Superbike Director Daniel Carrera explaining the new fan-focused format of WorldSBK’s new schedule.

If fans buy a ticket for the Sunday, they can enter the circuit for free on Saturday, and there are no extra costs for a Pitwalk or to visit the Paddock. This is in addition to opportunities for fans to win Grid Access, a Pit Wall experience or the chance to be at the podium ceremony.

#DutchWorldSBK gets underway on the 15th of April as WorldSBK heads north from MotorLand Aragón.
